Question:
Does anyone here have any experience with dog lice? We just
got a call from the breeder of a pup we brought home last
week, saying another pup from the litter was diagnosed with
dog lice. Our puppy has been noticeably itchy. Now I am
itching too--hope it is just my imagination?
Supposedly Frontline will take care of the infestation on
the dog--but can they live on people?
Answer:
Lice are quite uncommon,do you think she meant scabies instead?
Do you see any red bumps on your dog or you?
On you,it would be around your waist and tummy,at least that is where it
was when I caught mine from a rescue dog : ( If you think you have
them, they will not live on you for long,so just take a nice hot bath, and
SCRUB,and wash everything in bleach and hot soapy water. For your dog
you would have to dip probably four times with a lime-sulur solution or
other dips. If you really think it is lice, get a nit comb,at the drug
store, and you will be able to pull them out,and ACK pop them! If you
have them, make sure you have someone check your hair out really well,as
they atach to the hair shaft! The dog that has lice usually has come
from a very dirty place and is not a very healthy pup : ( Oh, I don't
think Frontline will do the trick, but ask your vet.
