Question:
My daughter has been fighting off head lice for about 4
weeks. The NIX has not worked. Someone told me to get tea tree oil. I
did, and the clerk told me the way to apply is to part her hair in
several sections and apply with a q-tip for about 10 nights. Is this
the correct way to use tea tree oil for this? I know to remove the
nits, and everytime I think I've got them all out, I find some more. I
just want to make sure I am using the tea tree oil as I am supposed to.
Also, if anyone knows a good website on discussing *how* to use tea tree
oil for different things, including dosages, etc. I would be interested
to see it
Answer:
If the tea tree oil doesn't work out, we had a poster recently who
said she got rid of lice from her kids by using olive oil.
I don't recall the details (I think the posting should be available
via Dejanews, however). If I remember right, she "shampooed" their
heads with olive oil and let it sit for 10-15 minutes, washed it out.
You still have to comb out the nits, but she said this did the job
when the commerical products failed. You'll have to admit it's a
cheap, if oily, solution if it works.
