Question:
I just found out that I have head lice. I do not know how I got it, but
I do not have any children or any associations with schools or daycares
or other common routes. I was and still am COMPLETELY shocked...
Do you know what the most effective method for treatment is?
I tried the Walgreens version of Rid (1%) but it didnt kill the lice. I am having
a really hard time seeing any nits, but I suspect that they are there.
I also purchased the Lice Meister metal comb and have been using that...
this just started up 48 hours ago and I dont know what else to do. I
have treated my house, washed everything in hot water then dried in
dryer.
Do you have any suggestions?
Answer:
When you treat your hair for head lice keep in mind you also have to treat
EVERYONE in the family. You then have to treat all the places people have laid
their heads. Buy the spray stuff for the backs of the couches, pillows, hats
etc. To be really sure you end the infestation make sure you treat everyone again
within 7-10 days (which is when the eggs will start hatching).
You can check for head lice by using the eraser end of a pencil and starting at
the neck and part the hair in sections, checking from the roots outwards to
then end of the hair shafts.
They look like fleas so if you had them and you treated your head you WILL see
them when you comb your hair out. If you didn't see them...you didn't have
them.
