Question:
My kindergartner came home today with a note saying she has head
lice. Yikes! Is there a non-toxic way to treat it? We haven't
been through this experience before, and I wanted to hear if any
of you have any wisdom to share. We were told to buy Rid or
Pronto. And I have the guidelines for banishing them from our
household. ANY input would be appreciated.
Answer:
My daughter has had this problem because a few members of her class
don't treat their hair which means she gets them again. The most
efective treatment we have found is to get her to wash her hair and
them we comb it through with a head lice comb (available from
chemists) we go all the way around her head, starting at the front on
one side. This gets all the headlice and eggs out of her hair. We do
this everyday until we find no trace for 5 days running, and then we
so it every other day for 2 weeks. This means she gets a non toxic
treatment.
