Answer:
A high quality "tea tree" oil, from the melaleuca alternafolio plant,
will penetrate the bodies of the lice and kill them. Non-toxic and
non-cuastic. I think this will help you.
Might want to dilute that before putting on the head of a child.
Also, strong thyme tea is highly regarded, for a low cost alternative,
as is thyme oil, but I suspect tea tree oil is more effective.
I think boric acid may also be quite effective and is cheapest
of all.
