Question:
I forgot to copy down the head lice treatments (repellents), my children's
friends have just come down with them, could I please have the blends again.
Answer:
The only way to kill lice seems to be by either using a chemical or
essential oils, to which the lice have no tolerance. Of the many lice
mixtures on sale in chemists some are alcohol based and these can
sometimes cause scalp irritation, and as heat and alcohol is a dangerous
combination, the hair must be left to dry naturally. Using a
combination of essential oils to combat the problem will not only kill
the lice within 2 hrs, but will cost a fraction of the price of a
chemist preparation and will leave the hair healthy.
I would recommend :
75mls of base oil
25 drops Rosemary
12 drops Eucalyptus
13 drops Geranium
25 drops Lavender
Once the above has been applied then wrap the head in cling film and
leave for a couple of hours, once the cling film is removed you have to
shampoo the oil mixture out of the hair. The shampoo needs to be
applied before any water to make an emulsion - then add the water.
Thouroughly wash the hair and use a fine toothed 'nit comb'.
Repeat the treatment after 5 days to ensure that you catch anything
which might have subsequently hatched (lice eggs are not only stuck to
the hiar shaft with superglue, but they are imperviuous to any
preparation, and dont become vulnerable until they are hatched). A
welcome effect of the essential oil lice treatment is that children will
be owners of lustrous, shining, healthy hair !!!
