Head Lice help?

Question:
I just found out that I have head lice. I do not know how I got it, but I do not have any children or any associations with schools or daycares or other common routes. I was and still am COMPLETELY shocked...

Do you know what the most effective method for treatment is? I tried the Walgreens version of Rid (1%) but it didnt kill the lice. I am having a really hard time seeing any nits, but I suspect that they are there. I also purchased the Lice Meister metal comb and have been using that... this just started up 48 hours ago and I dont know what else to do. I have treated my house, washed everything in hot water then dried in dryer. Do you have any suggestions? Does prescription strength "rid" work better? I am leaving for vacation on Sunday and would really like to have this taken care of before then... is it possible?

Answer:
I have had headlice three times, in the last few years. My daughter would catch them at school. I used heaps of pesticides, following the instructions to the letter but, many of these products were downright hopeless. Other parents had similar problems with these products. Where they'd been effective in the past, their efficacy was somewhat limited, and after discussing this with other pharmacists, and doctors, decided that there was a strong possibility that lice were becoming used to the pesticides. Just as flies, and other bugs seem to adapt to various sprays. Anyway, someone gave me the phone number of a homeopathic pharmacy in New Zealand, called Simillimum Pharmacy. Ph. (0064) (0800) Arnica. They couriered to me a bottle of Staphisagria mother tincture. I opened the package and seen a 50ml bottle of watery liquid that instantly made my heart sink. I just thought there was no way that this stuff was going to work. Was I wrong. I followed the instructions of washing and drying our hair, using no conditioner and rinsing well. Then, I parted the hair in thirds, and dropped three drops of the liquid on the scalp at each part. The instructions said do this every second day but, I was disbelieving so, did it every day. The stuff would be described as miraculous by those that believe in such things but, there was no doubt that this stuff worked. I was combing nothing but dead lice off our heads. I did this for ten days, as instructed, and have never looked back. We've experienced other outbreaks and as soon as we're aware of it, we have treated with the Staphisagria, or if we can't find any lice, we use it as a preventative. Scoff if you will. This stuff was amazing. It wasn't a toxic pesticide, and didn't cause inflammation of the scalp as some of the pesticides tend to do. I've tried product after product, following the instructions as if my life depended on it. None of them worked as efficently as the staphisagria. For those that are interested, you might want to contact a simillimum dispensary in your country. Perhaps do a google, or some other search engine, for a place to find the stuff. Oh, forgot to add that the homeopath said that the staphisagria makes the scalp an undesirable place for the lice to be. So, they either sicken and die, or fall off. I was so fascinated by the process that I examined nits under the microscope. I kept finding what appeared to be eggs with dead nits inside.
