Question:
My daughter (3 yrs) got head lice at day care. I have tried the Rid treatment
and the next day their was still more in her hair. Is there any better remedy
out there? My poor girl is not hip to sitting still to pick the stuff out of
her hair.
Answer:
Remebering when I had it in school........many years ago.......It take a while to
get rid of the little buggers. Especially if she has long hair. Or a lot of it.
I don't even remember the kind of champoo my mom used...and it still took us a
week to get rid of them...also be sure to put anything her head comes in contact
with through the dryer for at least 15 minutes to kill eggs. (pillows, blankets,
jackets...etc)
Once you've killed them all, you can try using Tea Tree oil to prevent
re-infection.
Please remember to put the shampoo on dry hair. All toys, especially
stuffed animals need to be bagged up in a garbage stack for at least 10 to
14 days. When my daughter got lice, I finally ended up using the olive oil
trick and using tea tree oil in her shampoo every day. (3-5 drops of tea
tree oil to each ounce of shampoo and the oil you can buy at any herbal
shop).. After any treatment you have to make sure you get all the nits,
check every day!!
