Question:
How do kids get Head Lice?
and once they have it, does everyone in the household get it?
How can it be prevented and how to prevent infecting other family
members?
Answer:
As far as I know, head lice can not be prevented, unless you consider
keeping your child(ren) away from other children who may have it. The way I
have heard head lice is spread, is from the eggs being transferred from one
head to another, by means of sharing a comb, a hat, a pillow, etc. Anything
that an infected person's head touches is prone to have eggs left on it,
sometimes even an adult lice. To prevent other family members from getting
head lice, once it is caught, you need to use treatment measures on the
person who has it, and then wash all bedding, and vacuum all carpets. It
probably wouldn't even hurt to use treatments on the family members who
don't have lice, just as a preventive measure.
