Question:
My kindergartner came home today with a note saying she has head
lice. Is there a non-toxic way to treat it? We haven't
been through this experience before, and I wanted to hear if any
of you have any wisdom to share. We were told to buy Rid or
Pronto. And I have the guidelines for banishing them from our
household. ANY input would be appreciated

Head Lice FAQ. Any factual comments or additions to the FAQ would be
welcomed.
Very briefly, the hatched lice can be suffocated with oils; oil/vinegar
mixtures, such as mayonnaise, will also helps loosen the nits. Be very
careful about suggested "natural" insecticides, which may be more toxic
than Rid.
And as a netter recently mentioned, shaving the heads of the entire family
will also work.
